Emergency Light Testing in the workplace
Employers have a legal requirement to have emergency and exit lights tested every six months and the results recorded according to Australian Standards 2293.2:1995
In the case of electrical failure or other emergency, it is imperative the emergency and exit lighting systems on your site are working 100% so that people may safely and quickly make their way out of the site.
AWTT® performs on site testing of your emergency and exit light systems to Australian Standard 2293.2 to ensure that in case of emergency these systems are fully functioning.
AWTT® conducts a 6 monthly and yearly procedure to ensure that the Australian Standard is being met
AWTT® Perform the following test
6 monthly:
- Ensure there have been no power interruptions for 16hrs prior.
- Inspection of fluoro lights for blackened ends, if observed replacement of tube is required
- For Manual Discharge for 90 minutes to simulated power failure. Light must stay illuminated for no less then 90 minuets.
- Reinstate light to normal operating condition and check that the battery charger operation indicator functions correctly.
- For Automatic discharge test. Ensure the unit operates correctly by a visual test to identify each indicator light is operational.
- Failed lights shall need replacement or repair.
- 12 monthly testing is as above plus
- Clean all light emitting and reflecting surfaces
- Record all test results for both 6 month and 12 month testing and deliver to staff and place a copy in the switchboard.
